Weber: Shop Small this Saturday!

After the joy of a Thanksgiving meal and the blessings of family and friends getting together, many people look to start their Christmas shopping. Instead of taking part in the rush of Black Friday or the impersonal experience of Cyber Monday, State Representative Tom Weber is encouraging folks to shop small. Saturday, November 26th is Small Business Saturday – a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for our communities.

Small businesses need our support now more than ever as they try to emerge from the effects and shutdowns of the coronavirus pandemic. Despite tens of thousands of businesses shuttering their doors for good in 2020 and 2021, there are still more than a million small businesses in Illinois that need our support- they employ nearly 45% of the state’s workforce!

A small business owner from Wheaton recently penned this op-ed about the struggles small businesses are facing right now and how Springfield policies are making the cost of doing business worse, not better.
