As the pause on federal student loans is set to end in September, the University of Illinois System Student Money Management Center (SMMC) and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) are coordinating a free monthly webinar series to assist borrowers.
When the pause ends, interest on all federal student loans will start accruing on September 1, with payments starting October 1. Loan servicers will be contacting all borrowers with their exact due date. IDFPR expects long wait times for borrowers who call Federal Student Aid (FSA) or their servicer with questions.
