Following the announcement today that Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Director Marc Smith will be resigning effective December 31 of this year, State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) issued the following statement in response:
“Director Smith’s resignation is long overdue. Despite failure after failure under his leadership, the Governor has refused to take action and bears just as much responsibility for the harm children have suffered in DCFS care under this administration. This resignation is a step in the right direction, but the agency is still in need of drastic change to ensure our most vulnerable children are protected.”
