In recognition of his advocacy on behalf of Illinois’ farmers, State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) has been named a “Friend of Agriculture” by the Illinois Farm Bureau. Weber received his award during a presentation last month at Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove, with McHenry County Farm Bureau Manager Dan Volkers and Lake County Farm Bureau Director Andy Yarc presenting it.
“Agriculture is one of our state’s most important industries, and it not only puts food on our tables but also drives our economy,” said Weber. “I’m proud to stand alongside Illinois’ farmers and support policies that help agriculture succeed in Illinois.
“Thank you to Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove for hosting us last month, and the McHenry County Farm Bureau and Lake County Farm Bureau for presenting me with this honor!”
The award was based on each legislator’s support of farming and agriculture in the 103rd General Assembly. Legislators receiving this award recognize the far-reaching benefits of Illinois’ agricultural products and the important role farmers play in our state, nation, and world.
The Lake and McHenry County Farm Bureaus are among the oldest in the nation, with the Lake County Bureau in existence since 1914, and the McHenry County Bureau in existence since 1916.
