Rep. Weber, Flag Commission: Voting Remains Open on State Flag Choices

State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) today reminded local residents that they still have a chance to play a part in Illinois history…voting for a new state flag, or to maintain our current flag that has represented Illinois since 1915.

Rep. Weber serves on the Illinois Flag Commission, which has been tasked with developing new state flag designs and making recommendations to the General Assembly on whether our current state flag should be replaced with a new one.

“This truly is an historic task. Our current flag has represented Illinois for more than 100 years. We can all have a say on whether it will continue to represent Illinois for the next hundred years or more!” Rep. Weber said.

The Commission has narrowed down the flag designs to 10 finalists that Illinois residents can choose from, including Illinois’ current flag. The new designs vary from traditional to more imaginative choices.

“It is truly an honor to serve on the Flag Commission and to be a part of this process, but the best news is that everyone can participate! You just need to go the website and vote for your favorite,” said Rep. Weber.
