Yesterday, I gave remarks regarding my opposition to Senate Bill 1950, legislation that would legalize assisted suicide in Illinois if passed.
Death is painful – painful for both those who are sick and their families. Watching a loved one live out their final days is a horrible experience. But those moments are also among the most important we have together.
Life should be cherished, and this bill does all but protect life. As a legislature, our objective should be to create a healthier state, not a destination for death.
