Rep. Weber: “This Budget is a Disaster”

Following Governor Pritzker’s signing of the FY26 Budget this morning, State Representative Tom Weber gave the following statement.

“Unsurprisingly, taxpayers in Illinois continue to pay the price for irresponsible spending and closed-door deals. Illinois Democrats hastily created and passed yet another record-setting budget full of tax increases and pork-barrel projects.

“Instead of providing relief for families struggling to make ends meet, this budget pauses essential property tax grants while shoveling millions of taxpayer dollars into premium benefits for undocumented immigrants. Meanwhile, our veterans and direct service providers for disabled citizens continue to be left behind.

“The FY26 Budget includes $8.2 billion in new spending for Democrat pork projects disguised as investments and gives Governor Pritzker unchecked spending power with a $100 million slush fund. And let’s not forget—another year, another pay raise for politicians, while Illinois families struggle under skyrocketing costs.

“This budget is a disaster and a betrayal of hardworking taxpayers. I will continue to fight for open discussions regarding the budget, fiscal responsibility, and policies that put Illinois families first, not political elites.”
