Weber, Property Tax Relief Conference Call for Action Before End of Legislative Session

The Property Tax Relief Conference today sent an open letter to Governor JB Pritzker and members of the General Assembly urging immediate action on meaningful property tax relief before the conclusion of spring session.

The group said Illinois taxpayers can no longer afford another year without reforms aimed at slowing the growth of property taxes and increasing transparency and accountability in the system.

The conference has advocated for several reforms in recent weeks, including greater voter transparency on property tax referendums and ending the practice of so-called “backdoor referendums” that allow taxes to continue without additional voter approval.

Members of the conference said they remain ready to work with lawmakers from both parties on reforms that provide meaningful and lasting relief for Illinois taxpayers before adjournment.
