From the Lake County DOT: The contractor has made significant progress on the culvert replacement on Fairfield Road between IL Route 120 and IL Route 134. The temporary creek diversion is in place allowing the creek to flow uninterrupted around the site. Crews have successfully removed the old culvert in coordination with utilities onsite.
The site is prepped for the new concrete culvert. Precast concrete box culvert sections were installed via crane. Crews are currently working on pouring the custom ends to the culverts that channel water underneath the roadway. A series of concrete pours will be needed to complete these end sections.
Fairfield Road is scheduled to reopen by the late afternoon on November 6, weather dependent. Detour Route: IL Route 120 to Wilson Road to IL Route 134. Local traffic will have access from IL 134 south to Nippersink Road and local residences and from IL Route 120 north to local residences. The road is closed to all through traffic at Squaw Creek.
